October Committee Meeting

The first full meeting of the Old Cryptians’ Club Committee in the Presidency of Charlie Hannaford will be held on Tuesday, 10th October 2017.  If there are any issues which you would like to see discussed, please contact the Committee Secretary at admin@oldcryptians.org

Founders’ Day Supper – REMINDER

After the Founders’ Day Service on Thursday, 29th June, the Old Cryptians Club will be holding their annual Supper at the magnificent Parliament Rooms conveniently situated next to the Cathedral.  Places are still available at £27/head.  This covers a welcome drink, a 2/3 course cold buffet and coffee.  A wonderful occasion with School, Club and friends present, this is the evening when the current President of the Club (Bob Timms) stands down and the new President (Charlie Hannaford) takes over.  Details are given here Founders’ Day Supper 2017 and there is also a return form Founders Day 2017 Supper Reservation.  Or you are welcome to contact Richard Briggs directly – 01344 485273 or membership@oldcryptians.org  And finally, don’t forget to sign up for the friendly Golf Match at Highnam in the morning (Contact Eric Stephens on 01452 529000)

An afternoon at the School

The Headmaster and Chair of Governors would like to invite all Old Cryptians to an afternoon at Podsmead, to celebrate The Past, The Present and The Future of The Crypt School on Friday, 23rd June at 12 noon.  See details here:  OC Afternoon June 2017

The School would like to see as many Old Cryptians as possible – those who left many years ago and those who left a few years ago – all are most welcome.  If you are in contact with other OCs who are not members of the Old Cryptians’ Club – please do pass the message on.

Save the Date – Founders’ Day and Supper

The annual Founders’ Day Supper, at which the new President of the Old Cryptians’ Club is installed, will be held at the Parliament Rooms (adjacent to Gloucester Cathedral) on THURSDAY, 29th JUNE 2017.  Invitations are being prepared but if you would like to book your place now, please call Richard Briggs (Membership Secretary) on 01344 485273 or email membership@oldcryptians.org  As usual, requests to attend the early evening Cathedral Service should be directed to Sue Wales at the Crypt School 01452 530291.

Annual Dinner 2017 – a great success

On Saturday 18th March the main room at Gloucester Rugby was packed for the 116th Annual Dinner of the Old Cryptians’ Club.  For the first time the Ladies joined us for the whole evening.  Again it was refreshing to see two tables of Young Cryptians.  The addresses, after the meal were from the Headmaster Nick Dyer, the Guest Speaker Steve Knibbs and the President Bob Timms.  More reports to follow.

Appeal by the Head and the OC’s President

Nick Dyer, Headmaster of the Crypt School and Bob Tims, President of the Old Cryptians Club are making a joint Appeal to Cryptians for the funds necessary to allow the Discover DeCrypt Project to get underway, following the successful award by the Heritage Lottery Fund.  Time is short.  Please act NOW.

Lottery Funds for the Discover DeCrypt Project

The Project Team are delighted to announce that a substantial grant of nearly £1.4M has been awarded to the Discover DeCrypt project.  The renovation and regeneration of the ancient Crypt Schoolroom and St. Mary de Crypt church has thus taken a big step forward.

Subscription Increase – a Reminder

All subscribing Old Cryptians should recently have received a letter about the increase in the annual fee from £20 to £25.  Please follow the link under the Membership tab for full details.  Any query on the new arrangement should be directed to the Membership Secretary, Richard Briggs at membership@oldcryptians.org

School Carol Service
