Multi-million pound restoration project
The churchyard at St Mary de Crypt in Southgate Street will be closed for more than a year as work at the centuries-old church gets underway.
At the Annual General Meeting of the Club, held at the Crypt School in March 2002, it was unanimously decided at the proposal of John Crowe and seconded by Hugh Rowe, that a Bursary Fund should be set up for the benefit of talented or gifted pupils and students of the Crypt School.
It will be known as “The Old Cryptians’ Club Centenary Bursary Fund 2001”.
Gordon Jones drafted the Trust Deed, which was approved at a Special General Meeting of the Club, held on July 3rd 2002 prior to the Founders’ Day celebrations. A committee meeting of the Club was then held to appoint the following as Trustees of the Old Cryptians’ Club Centenary Bursary Fund 2001 :
1. Clive Thomas (Chairman & Treasurer),
2. Richard Browning,
3. Mike Beard,
4. Howard Allen,
5. Jonathan Standen (Headmaster).
